Founder Justin Trabue grew up in Washington, D.C.'s Ward Four and moved to California after high school to study wine. She spent seven years in production at Lumen Wines and Heitz Cellar before launching Ward Four Wines in 2021. The winery sources grapes from family-owned California vineyards that farm sustainably and treat workers fairly, and it champions lesser-known grapes like Barbera, Petite Sirah, Muscat Blanc, and Mourvèdre. Her motto: wines of joy, no fuss.
